My father Richard Dowling (born 1911, lives in Reading, Berks, but doesn't know any of the others in Berks) is the grandson of Patrick Dowling, who came over from Dublin in the last century. His (Richard's) father Percy Dowling made brass musical instruments for Boosey (later Boosey and Hawkes); his mother's name was Madeline Green; they lived in London. My father had 2 sisters, Phyllis and Nell, now both deceased. On July 4 there was a mini Dowling family reunion in Tunbridge Wells; anyone go to it?
There also is a shoeshop in Whitchurch, Hants, owned by a Tom Dowling.
Incidentally my aunts Phyllis and Nell started doing some genealogical research, now unfortunately lost, and were shocked at how many first children were born 5-6 months after their parents wedding date! Isn't it wonderful that all those premature babies survived ...

Eva MORRIS (an Irish immigrant[1892]) married a Robert DOWLING and settled in the New England area. Her last known mailing address was in a town called Far Rockaway, New York. At one time they lived in New Rochelle, New York, and believe these cites are closely situated. They had at least two sons and one daughter: Robert DOWLING, Jr., was a very successful business man and at one time was president or chairman of the Peabody Company; The second some became a Catholic priest and I believe his name was Richard - At any rate he was an Army Chaplin and was captured by the Japanese with the fall of the Philippines in World War II. He survived the death march of Battan.; The daughter was also named Eva. Nothing more is known about this Eva.

Any help at all much appreciated.

Morris Ryan
