He volunteered in August 1914 , and was immediately afterwards drafted to the Western Front where he was engaged on imporatnt duties with his unit, and was present at the Battle of Albert. He died in hospital at Rouen on June 14th, 1918 and was entitled to the 1914 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals.
